Desire's Passing
The stars bring to me the music
Of your soul, whispering gently,
Gliding through me to bear forth
This light of heightened desire.
A passing glance, a furtive look
Reminds me of the restless nights
We spent apart, yet together
In all our innermost dreams.
The flower brings forth the
Fruit of all life, can we
Deny what is our birthright?
The path wavers farther into
The crevice of honor bound promises.
Shivering, we close the door
But are not strong enough to push
Against the hurricane pulsing past,
So straining, left open just a crack,
Light spilling through into the darkness
Of this room so empty now, so small.
Sensations piqued, vibrant, now fading
To a shifting mass of grayed abyss.
Our eyes meet. Pause. We turn away,
Staying near only long enough
To spark what resides within our forces,
Life's desire and mocking anguish.
